It's hard to transition between disciplines.
It can be challenging to get off of failing projects or out of troubled organizations.
It appears that the company has decided to make a significant change in direction and strategy. However, many employees were not given an opportunity to see if they could adapt to the new role/culture (e.g., de-emphasis of the software testing discipline).
Provide opportunities for people to move to new roles. Give them a chance to apply for those roles, especially when the company has decided to make a significant change in strategy.
