Pros

Working with some of the smartest people in the industry.

Great work-life balance, many vacation days, great food, and access to resources and information. A perfect place to work if you want a steady job.

Cons

Many of the smart people are underutilized, working on boring tasks and struggling with failing infrastructure. People with strong algorithmic skills work on simple business logic while those with business knowledge have no opportunity to use it. This makes career growth harder, as you have to work on side projects to gain visibility.

Advice to Management

Don't assign tasks to people arbitrarily. Ask them what they want to do and spend time to understand what their skills are. In the long run, this will bring more value than hitting yet another project checkpoint on time.
