The rate of promotion could at times be slow, though you will get compensated for your efforts. Depending on your group culture and product, you could be very satisfied or totally unhappy.
Let the employees run a little loose and really get wild and innovative with their technical skills. That's what brings about creativity, satisfies them, and builds their confidence in the company. What's the point of hiring brilliant engineers if you want to force them to do the same redundant tasks over and over again?!
