I feel that Microsoft is really trying to improve the world and life for the people in the places where Microsoft does business. They really care about the wellbeing and work-life balance of their employees.
During times of rapid growth in a department, work-life balance is often pushed aside while more and more responsibilities are pushed onto the engineers. No new resources are added to help deal with these responsibilities, leading to team burnout. Microsoft does encourage taking time off when you need it, but often the increasing demands and emergency situations that arise during times of rapid team growth overwhelm the time we could take off during such times.
When there are periods of large growth, please try to limit how many new features are promised. One of the causes of burnout in our team was the incredible number of new features we were asked for without any time to test or validate them. This would then cause them to break, and we would need to fix them while already trying to get the next new feature ready in record time.
First round OA with two questions, about LeetCode medium. Final round: three technical interviews, with coding questions. Since the JD mentioned language C, the coding question was done with C.
I had a 45-minute phone call with a recruiter regarding an engineering position. They discussed the specific team I was applying to join, as well as Microsoft's workplace culture in general.
The interview was easy. Most of the questions they asked were LeetCode easy. Unfortunately, I haven't been selected even after answering everything perfectly. I think they rejected me because of the ongoing visa issues.
