Awesome benefits.
Great work-life balance.
Great straight-outta-college job.
Beautiful Redmond campus with tons of great activities for 20 and 30 somethings.
Gotta play to get paid. Self-promotion is a constant necessity, along with the ear of your skip-manager (your actual manager has no power to grant you rewards).
Annual "Connects" are only as good as your skip's willingness to read feedback. Glowing reviews can be sent straight to the Recycle Bin because it was "too time consuming" to read them all.
Dogmatic adherence to the Microsoft ecosystem. Wanna write something in Python? Forget it. Switch teams (and company while you're at it). Have a great OSS resource you'd like to pull into a project? Good luck getting through LCA approval.
Butthurt is all around when someone calls a MS baby ugly.
Force managers to actually read Connect feedback. It's too easily brushed aside.
First round OA with two questions, about LeetCode medium. Final round: three technical interviews, with coding questions. Since the JD mentioned language C, the coding question was done with C.
I had a 45-minute phone call with a recruiter regarding an engineering position. They discussed the specific team I was applying to join, as well as Microsoft's workplace culture in general.
The interview was easy. Most of the questions they asked were LeetCode easy. Unfortunately, I haven't been selected even after answering everything perfectly. I think they rejected me because of the ongoing visa issues.
