Great benefits. A ton of different, exciting areas to work on. Wildly different cultures depending on the group, so there's something at MS for almost everyone.
Far too much politics, and sometimes brutal backstabbing to get promotions. There are no clear guidelines for levels, and it's possible to get stuck for years.
Frequent reorgs frequently reset any career growth.
For all the talk of diversity, the loud, opinionated, male employees are promoted the quickest.
So far, diversity is an idea coming from the top. Please empower individuals to act and comment on diversity, and ask regular employees for feedback. Right now, if something is going wrong in a team, there's no way to correct it.
Also, please stop reorging so often. It feels very demoralizing, and I've seen multiple great teams fall apart due to reorgs.
First round OA with two questions, about LeetCode medium. Final round: three technical interviews, with coding questions. Since the JD mentioned language C, the coding question was done with C.
I had a 45-minute phone call with a recruiter regarding an engineering position. They discussed the specific team I was applying to join, as well as Microsoft's workplace culture in general.
The interview was easy. Most of the questions they asked were LeetCode easy. Unfortunately, I haven't been selected even after answering everything perfectly. I think they rejected me because of the ongoing visa issues.
