Really nice, smart people, ranging from my recruiter to colleagues. Good support network (manager, admin, and mentor).
Got a taste of the benefits of working at Microsoft as a full-timer:
Location: Seattle Metropolitan area is awesome.
Networking: It was pretty easy to network and meet interns/full-timers across teams. They're very accommodating to interns that didn't enjoy their team and want to consider new teams if they come back. There are also other cool companies in the area.
"Headcount" - at least for my year, Microsoft didn't hire any more interns than their full-time slots for next year could hold.
Personally, I was working on a smaller team at Microsoft that had a more "startup"-y feel. IMO, this contributed to a faster pace of work, less rigid procedures, and more learning opportunities.
Location: I wasn't located anywhere near main campus. This made it hard to attend intern events. The benefit of this, though, was less traffic, as main campus can get pretty bad.
With the team that I was assigned to (which I got a return offer for next year), there's no guarantee that it's going to exist in a year, as it's a smaller team.
The interview process began with an online tech screening by a recruiter, followed by an online assessment. The onsite interview consisted of 4-5 back-to-back sessions held on the same day. Online assessments were typically conducted on common platfo
Mostly basic data structure and algorithm questions, with a few rounds and some behavioral questions as well. Interviewed with all different people. They were relatively speedy in scheduling each interview and were considerate of my time.
Answering technical interview questions while also addressing common interview inquiries such as: * Describe yourself. * Why did you apply? * Why should we hire you? * What interests you about this role? * Tell me about this experience...
