Pros

Great work/life balance! It's no secret Microsoft treats their interns well.

Work on real projects, making effective changes.

Employees are friendly and helpful. Often they will drop everything to help you with your problem. Interns generally get priority because of the short time frame we're there.

Transparency: If you ask, you'll get an answer.

Cons
  • Lots of legacy code, and not all of it is up to current programming standards there. However, this is to be expected in a large and old company.

  • Recruiting for full-time offers can be vicious and try to play mind games. Engineering management can combat this, as they are generally very friendly and open.

Advice to Management

Adjust training/bonuses for recruiters so they are not incentivized to use these tactics.
