Terrible place for contractors

Pros

Free soda, shuttles, and flexible hours; talented people, access to cool hardware, and nice buildings/cafeterias, and the Commons.

Cons

Microsoft has allowed consulting agencies to completely fleece hard-working freelance engineers in a financial sense. Also, full-time employees are often condescending and indifferent to contractors. The company has allowed a culture of servitude and open disdain for non-FTEs, which makes for terrible morale and lots of friction between the haves and have-nots.

Advice to Management

Get rid of consulting agencies and hire more testers. Microsoft's testing efforts are abysmal.
