Work-life balance was not always what it should be. Being a contractor at Microsoft means you are a second-class citizen.

Advice to Management

Make sure your managers are able to give constructive critical feedback in a timely and direct way.

Make sure your managers aren't putting fat jokes in professional emails.

Treat your contractors more like people, less like cogs, and really think hard before choosing to make a position a "v-" (variable) rather than a "f-" (fixed).
