Too woke. Career paths and hiring are broken. It's hard to get a real career opportunity

Pros

freedom while doing work; product strategy is mostly unbeatable; compensation and benefits are really good; still lots of people one can learn from.

Cons

Hiring is broken: arbitrary hiring freezes, closing open positions without filling them, and an inability to get feedback on applications. Referrals are not taken seriously; I will never recommend anybody again due to being put in a bad light.

Diversity is great, as long as your opinion aligns with the company's (woke) opinion. Goals are tough.

I'm not really seeing skill or performance standards amongst people with the same job title. Microsoft's poor savings impact employee morale and travel.

A sense of purpose is lacking when one simply doesn't care anymore if the company makes a few $B more or less.
