Pros

Interns have real responsibilities, are involved in decision-making meetings, and get to work on projects that are significant to the future of the company.

Company culture is great. Fellow interns were very sociable with top-tier technical skills.

MongoDB has a variety of opportunities for interns, including front-end work, as well as system-level database work.

Mongo does a lot to ensure interns have a great time, including setting them up in great housing together at NYU.

Cons

It may be difficult to get excited about working on a database. The variety of intern projects varies greatly; some were probably less interesting.

Advice to Management

Clarify intern compensation structure; some terms were a little misleading for the 2015 summer. Ensure all mentors are prepared to deliver the same time and care.
