Java Developer Interview Experience - Budapest, Hungary

Process

As I recall, there would have been four rounds in total:

  • A long phone interview with HR in English. It was very tiring, answering questions that could be answered from my CV.
  • A technical interview, also in English. I was totally prepared for solving recursive algorithmic problems, and there it was. Although I was nervous at the beginning, I felt really comfortable answering Java-related questions in English, then almost solved the portfolio calculation problem in HackerRank with recursion.

I didn't feel I wanted to work with these guys, though. There was no chemistry, and they did not let me move on to the next stage either, which would have been a technical interview with the team, then an executor interview. Little overwhelming, if you ask me.

One lesson I took for sure: I should not go to an interview where I really do not want to work. They feel it, and it doesn't help your self-esteem.

Questions

What is an object in Java?

What are interfaces?

How do you query from one or more SQL tables?

What is the technique to optimally query from a huge database?

The answer should be, "it depends." However, we went in the direction of indexing, and we were talking about the indexing of a database table. The algorithm should be solved with a HashMap and recursion.
