Senior Frontend Developer Interview Experience - Bengaluru, India

Process

The first round was a machine round in JavaScript and Angular.

Second round was a Zoom video call on JavaScript concepts. The interviewer was very supportive.

Third round was again a Zoom technical interview. Again, the interviewer was really nice and helpful. It focused more on algorithms and JavaScript concepts.

Fourth round seemed to be project fitment. Instead of asking questions on JavaScript or Angular, they asked questions related to DevOps, Kubernetes, clusters, load balancing, Unix commands, and deployment. I had applied for a UI position, but they went deep into DevOps. They also asked if I could work on .NET and Java.

I had applied for a UI position, so why were they asking about DevOps, Java, and .NET?

This time as well, both interviewers were very nice and kept the session enjoyable. I answered all questions to the best of my ability because the interviewers were supportive.

However, the next day, I received a rejection email.

I am wondering where I might have missed demonstrating my UI skills, given the role I applied for.

I cleared three UI interview rounds, but some might call it unfortunate.

I shared this experience with a friend, who also told me a similar story from Microsoft.

I had applied a few years back, and after seven rounds, I performed really well in the last round but was still rejected.

If a rejection happens in the last round, does that mean all previous rounds were just for namesake?

I felt a very bad ending.

I can understand that they hire the best candidate for the position, but it is very demoralizing.

In the end, I don't have hard feelings against them, but what about the candidate's effort?
