Process
An on-site interview was set up by a recruiting agency representing me.
On the first day, I interviewed with five software developers, including a department manager. The questions were a mix of C++ trivia as well as software design questions.
On the second day, I interviewed with front office traders. The questions were deeply technical, though the goal was to challenge me and see whether I could come up with reasonable responses and solutions quickly.

Pros: Good technology used in this company.
Good compensation compared to other local companies.
Good people to work with.
Very structured in SDLC and tools used.
Good for getting started; you can learn a lot here.
Cons: Some overtime, but it doesn't always happen. It depends on the team you are in.
It's hard to get promoted in Montreal, maybe anywhere on this point.
It's hard to get visibility in Montreal.
Something about the command of the financial industry: they lay off people every year. Very little bonus compared to NY, I guess.

Pros: I've been contracting for Morgan Stanley for more than 5 years. There is no limited time to contract; other banks put some limitations, like 2 years. Contracts are for one year, and they normally honor their contracts and do not finish them early.
Cons: Contracting is tough to make a significant career (though this depends more on your manager). They normally prefer to promote and give more responsibilities to FTEs.

Pros: Very good company to work with. Very professional people and very experienced too. The best thing about it is "work from home" flexibility, which is really helpful if you live far away and commuting to NYC is a problem for you.
Cons: If you live far, the commute will be an issue because their downtown location is not connected by main train/subway lines.
