Software Developer Interview Experience - Canada

Process

The interview consisted of three rounds in total.

The first round was a lead discussion, lasting half an hour. The second round involved two developers for a technical discussion. The third round was a coding session with another two developers.

The questions were open-ended, and there was no structure to the interview. The technical discussion felt like an interrogation of a criminal, with rapid questions asked one by one. I asked the interviewers about their roles and what they were working on, but not a single one of them seemed excited or happy to express their interest in working at the company.

I received feedback that I lacked architectural depth. However, there was not a single question asked to explore my architectural knowledge. There was also not enough room for me to explain my thoughts, and the interviewers seemed inexperienced, as if they themselves did not know what they were looking for in a candidate.

The experience felt more like an interrogation of a criminal than an interview.

Questions

The role is for iOS development, yet they asked LeetCode questions and provided feedback that I lack architectural depth. I suppose the candidate was expected to structure their code on LeetCode.
