I had an interview for a Junior Software Developer position in Sandy, UT. It was supposed to be just a phone conversation, but they conducted a technical interview and asked me all sorts of questions related to Object-Oriented Programming. The interview lasted for around 25 minutes.
If they were going to conduct an interview, they should have mentioned it in the email. Also, the name mentioned in the email for the person who would take the interview was different from the actual person who interviewed me.
The phone call came from Calgary, Canada. I was about to hang it up, as the person's accent was not familiar enough to be someone from the USA, and I thought it was a call from a consultancy, perhaps. But then I asked the interviewer, and she said she was from Shareworks. I had done my research about the company and also searched the recruiter's profile on LinkedIn (from the name mentioned in the email).
However, the experience did not turn out to be that good, as I was not expecting a technical interview and was only prepared for a phone conversation.
