Unclear and the worst process I have ever seen.
Small organizations are far better than Morgan Stanley and give value to people and their time.
The ideal process was supposed to be: Telephonic Technical -> HackerRank Paired Programming, according to the interviewer. However, the bad, dumb HR and recruiter had no idea about the process.
So, they explained the first step incorrectly. Because of their mistake, my whole interview went wrong.
I applied through LinkedIn and contacted the recruiter for an interview call. The recruiter was damn polite and explained each step clearly, never mentioning that the first round would be fully technical.
I received a confirmation email a few days later, which stated that the first round would be more about introduction and learning about my background and current projects. However, the interviewer started asking technical questions from advanced topics, like a surprise test.
First of all, I am a C# developer. The interviewer told me, “Let’s start with Java questions.” Half of my confidence was lost. After correcting him, we started, which was my mistake; I should have refused to proceed at that moment. Then, half of the questions were unpredictable.
He was so inept that he was pronouncing 'Char' as 'Chhaar'. Most of the questions were from advanced topics that we rarely use in our daily work.
I have blacklisted them for my entire career.
