Pros
  • Great location in Budapest.
  • Competent and talented colleagues.
  • Friendly environment (where the office is refurbished).
  • Good firm culture.
  • Working with cutting-edge technologies.
  • WFH ability.
Cons
  • Unfair performance evaluation (got the lowest ranking even though I was available outside of working hours and on weekends, innovated a lot in our technology landscape, and delivered everything on time and with precision)
  • Unpaid weekend work
  • A lot of context switches in my work (I have to do the work of at least two people)
  • Unbalanced workload
  • Cost-cut-driven culture
  • No firm-paid team-building activities and even no firm-paid Christmas dinner (!!!)
  • The salary used to be great in Budapest, but now it's getting lower and lower in comparison with other companies
  • Nine-hour working hours
  • Poor perks
  • No firm-issued phone or even a SIM card is provided, even if you need one outside of working hours (for associates)
  • Need to work on thin clients, which has lots of disadvantages.

This is not related to Morgan Stanley itself, but they are unable to ask the vendor to open new canteens in the offices. It's quite uncomfortable to go out for lunch in the winter.

Advice to Management

Invest more in people; stop the cost-cut-driven firm culture.
