Pros

The average level of talent is high, with a good foundation of technology. There are some really great people left, and it's intellectually challenging.

Cons

Not enough people for the work required.

Understaffed means the technology foundation doesn't advance much. Aging technology paradigms aren't getting upgraded, which forces compromised decisions on future direction. Selling an idea requires herculean effort. Arguing and debate are a staple of most meetings.

Advice to Management

Make a decision and stick to it. Either invest in the technology you have or commit to replacing it.
