Pros
  • Looks like the business is good, so things are moving towards an IPO.
  • Company has quite a few "wellness days" over the year, i.e., extra holidays (likely to somewhat compensate for the items listed in the Cons section).
  • The CEO seems to maintain a culture of internal transparency, so you get informed about the company's successes or shortcomings.
Cons

Engineering is a total mess:

  • Forget about work-life balance, as you will be pinged over Slack around the clock. People are expecting you to take meetings at like 9 pm to accommodate other time zones.
  • Leadership cares about nothing but how Jira tickets flow. It is more important to make sure your tickets look good than to actually do work.
  • Priorities are changing every 5 minutes.
  • Unless you take time out of your nights and weekends, it is impossible to get anything done due to distractions and changing priorities.
  • Insane inefficiencies are seriously affecting the entire engineering team, coming from homegrown deployment tools that are outdated and way under-documented. The collective wasted time on these is incredible, yet the leadership does not prioritize replacing them.
Advice to Management

The company is around the globe and in multiple time zones. Build up a communication culture that would respect people's working hours.

Ask engineering about the inefficiencies they are facing (some are huge) and prioritize addressing them.
