Optical Engineer Interview Experience - United States

Process

There was a hiring manager screen interview (15 mins). It was mostly about administration info (start date, compensation level, etc.) and a small optics quiz.

After that, there was a take-home assignment of 1 week. Upon reviewing the nature of the homework, I declined taking it and rescinded the whole interview process.

It is the most shocking interview process in my life. The assignment really feels like their internal projects. I requested a proper contract for IP protection and compensation for my work, but they refused. So I declined taking it and rescinded the whole interview process.

I think I dodged a bullet of doing free labor work for them. Those who are reading this interview review, avoid this company at all cost.
