Pros

Flexible work arrangements.

Yammer provides a good way to keep informed with what is going on in different parts of the company.

Cons

Leadership has no credible vision for the future. There's lots of talk of plans, but the only actions are to dress up numbers for the next quarter, even if it means cuts that directly impact customer deliveries now, which impact future sales.

Lots of talk of ethics in dealing with customers and government, but ethics are largely forgotten in internal dealings between different parts of the company.

There is no career path, and no future if you are not in the right business unit in the right geography.

Most former Alcatel-Lucent employees have asked for redundancy and are waiting around, hoping to get one. There is no apparent future, and a redundancy payout is the only real hope to get value from employment here.

There is no accountability. Managers can get upset when deliveries are missed, but there are no actual consequences for mistakes or non-performance.

Advice to Management

Look beyond next quarter at a 3-5 year planning horizon. Settle on a plan and stick to the actions to make it happen.
