Pros: Notion is a company that cares about their people, product, and pets! Ever since I've joined, there are a few things I am sure of: our teams are made up of wonderful people who are empathetic, hardworking, and passionate; the work I do creates an immediate, direct impact that is easily visible; there are a vast amount of opportunities for ownership; Notion cares about my well-being in a way I didn't think about myself! The amount of information and knowledge I consume on a daily basis is empowering, and the people I learn it from are so willing to help me become a better software engineer. And for the culture, it's easy to say that Notion cares. Refreshing and recharging is important to good work, and I feel their benefits reflect this mindset.

Cons: Since Notion is growing quickly, change is constant. However, it's great to see and know that the issues that arise are being proactively addressed and communicated to the team. As of December 2021, Notion’s eventual plan for returning to office post-COVID includes a mandatory number of days in office each week with no provisions for permanent remote work. Given that many other tech companies are moving to a more remote-friendly policy, I’d like to see Notion be more flexible here as well.

Pros: The company has a strong and healthy culture that encourages collaboration, ownership, and continuous learning. You get to work with highly intelligent and motivated people who care deeply about their craft and about delivering high-quality work. On top of that, the benefits are very solid and thoughtfully designed, which helps create a supportive and sustainable working environment.

Cons: On the downside, things can feel a bit chaotic at times, with fast-moving priorities and an occasional lack of clear structure. In a frontier-style environment, the boundaries between product areas and ownership can also blur, and it sometimes feels like internal “SaaS-like” tooling and platforms are still evolving rather than being fully mature and standardized.

Pros: This is one of the best companies that I have worked for, and it's definitely the best startup. * Founders have a clear vision about the product. * The product has a positive social impact, and we use it ourselves and improve it everyday. * Transparency, a friendly working environment, caring about social causes, etc. These are a few aspects holding well as the company grows.

Cons: Bay Area office is in San Francisco. The company has very successful stories with in-person collaboration when it was very small, so we still push towards in-office. Currently there is a plan to be in office two days a week. This can have some uncertainties for some people. * We are growing very fast. There can be a lot of dynamics on organization change or product refocus. * A lot of pieces need a bit of re-architecture to improve dev velocity. We have more people working on these, but it will take some time.
