Notion has terrific people, management with a thoughtful point of view and vision, and many fun technical challenges. In engineering, it's a good mix of veterans from established tech companies and early career engineers (few new grads, though). People are given a lot of autonomy and recognized for impactful work.
A value they profess is that they want people to do the best work of their career here, and while it feels lofty, I could see it happening for me. They dogfood their own product extremely well. People seem to genuinely enjoy writing technical specs, meeting notes, etc., here.
Upper management, at least from my perspective, seems efficient and functional. They communicate priorities clearly and repeatedly, making sure to link everything up with the company mission. It definitely feels like Notion could be one of the companies that comes out of current economic conditions better than before. The New York office is a great crew!
Usual things like: someone built something in the early days, and they are no longer at the company, so you have to dig and ask around to find context. You will have a hard time if you expect everything to have an existing owner.
Keep up the spirit of restraint. Use the resources that we have to hyperfocus on what actually matters. Put even more ears on the ground. Understand how people experience Notion in the real world and how we can make it better for them.
The interview process was smooth, encompassing both a screening and an on-site component. The interview questions were insightful, covering both technical and non-technical aspects. I also appreciated the lack of "fluff," with multiple coding rounds
Don't waste your time interviewing with Notion. I appeared for the first coding round, which was a simple problem with some test cases. The expectation was to execute the test cases. I was able to successfully run them, but HR never came back with f
Disappointing Experience Despite a Smooth Interview Process I recently interviewed with Notion Labs and, unfortunately, had a disappointing experience despite what initially felt like a well-structured and engaging process. I felt that all the roun
