ASIC Design Engineer Interview Experience - Portland, Oregon

Process

I was referred by a friend for a particular group, and I received an email from a recruiter. Although the position I was contacted for didn't really match my profile.

Questions

Most questions were pretty standard. What struck me was that, being a PhD student, I was asked questions from sophomore-level courses.

This was the opposite of my previous interview with IBM, where they truly respected my research and analytically walked me through the interview. The questions included:

  • 10101 sequence detector
  • CMOS inverter with just NMOS
  • Importance of caches, etc.
