I applied online.
Terrible. The interview started with the interviewer asking me, “How do you know about this job/company?” I found the question somewhat confusing because I had applied based on the job description, and I expected the interviewer to provide some context about the role and the team. I explained my understanding based on the job description posted online.
However, the interviewer told me that my answer was dishonest and that I should simply have said, “I don’t know.” After that, the interviewer repeatedly asked about my understanding of the role and how my background fit the position, but there was very little introduction or context provided about the actual work.
The job description described the position broadly as a firmware engineering role related to GPU validation, while I only learned near the end of the interview that the team actually works on other product. Overall, the interview felt less like a two-way conversation and more like an attempt to get me to guess a specific answer that the interviewer had in mind, without providing enough information or context to arrive at it.
