Pros: Relaxed life-work balance, short work time.

Cons: No raise, no bonus, few opportunities.

Pros: This company pays much higher than you will ever see anywhere else at this level, and it has great benefits. There's also an on-campus gym and cafeteria.

Cons: They do not innovate. They instead push you to finish your tasks to meet mismanaged deadlines, all for the sake of making the company money. They do not provide the necessary resources to complete projects within the desired timeline and instead just set you up for failure. I was put in a position where I had to complete a (2-person) task that required heavy lifting and was not given another resource to assist in that task. I pushed back to get the necessary resource but was denied and instead sternly warned that this needed to be completed on time or there would be a business impact. Of course, as I attempted to complete it on my own, I injured myself and damaged the equipment, getting a reprimand on my record. I wanted to file a worker's comp claim but was afraid to do so in fear of being fired.

Pros: 1. Brand recognition 2. Good starting salary 3. Great work-life balance 4. Lots to learn 5. Nice campus

Cons: 1. There is no salary increase or bonus for many years, which hurts employees' motivation. Promotions are difficult to come by, and even when they do, the salary stays the same. 2. It's difficult to see or feel the impact of one individual's work because the organization is very large. 3. It's not a good environment for innovation. The company seems to follow a model of expansion or innovation by acquisition, thus it's not regarded as cool as Google, Apple, or startups, which makes it difficult to attract young talent. 4. Many managers are hired from outside, which creates difficulty for them to understand engineers' work because they have never gone through it themselves within Oracle's work environment and infrastructure. 5. Group politics and bureaucracy.
