Software Engineer Interview Experience

Process

The recruiter contacted me about two weeks after I submitted my application online (sent my resume to an email address for the internship). The recruiter asked for my updated resume and transcripts, and then arranged a five-minute phone chat with me.

The phone chat was mainly about the overview of the internship and the interview process. There was only one round of phone interviews for the internship at Oracle.

After a week, I was told to have an interview with a group, followed by another group interview one week later. I was rejected one week after the second interview.

One interviewer was not patient at all and not nice, contrary to what other people said. Another was almost devoid of emotion; I couldn't gauge if he was happy or not about my answers.

Questions

Mostly general behavior questions about the projects on your resume, such as:

  1. What is your strength?
  2. What is your weakness?
  3. What's your hobby?
  4. What do you think was the most challenging part of the XX project?
  5. What do you want to get from this internship?

There were also some basic technical questions, like:

  1. Tell me about some sorting algorithms you know.
  2. How would you find a bug in a program?
