I was interviewed for the position of Tech Lead, Oracle Cloud Business Analytics Solutions Software Development.
Round 1: Programming
Though I answered most questions, the interviewer gave negative feedback, stating my concepts were unclear.
As of now, I am thinking the reason might be that one of their managers bullied individuals in my community, which is located near the Oracle office in Bangalore. I had registered an online bullying case.
Round 2: System Design - Parking Management System
I was not informed it would be a system design round, so I had prepared on Data Structures and Algorithms as per information from HR.
I compared it with a YouTube video after the interview and found that most entities and relationships between classes were correct.
a. Difference between C and C++. Bjarne Stroustrup states on his website's FAQ that "C++ is an extension of C." However, when I provided this answer to an interviewer, their feedback indicated they thought C++ was a superset of C.
b. Polymorphism, types of polymorphism, and how name mangling works. Program illustrating run-time polymorphism. I was initially unable to recall the term "name mangling," but it suddenly came to me.
c. Difference between Array and Vector. I mentioned that vectors use the dynamic array concept and that we can set their capacity and resize them according to our requirements.
d. Implement a stack using queues. I provided code and walked through the solution. I also mentioned how it could be implemented using a single queue.
e. The interviewer asked about design patterns I had used previously, when to use the Singleton and Factory patterns, and what the Observer pattern is.
Parking Management System:
a. Parking slot availability check: through an unordered map or set. b. Slot ID mapping: To keep it simple, I made the assumption that slots 1-40 are dedicated to 2-wheelers, and so on. Since an 8-wheeler could be further divided (e.g., 81a, 81b, 81c, 81d for 2-wheelers and 81aa, 81bb for 4-wheelers in a maximum occupancy scenario). Similarly, a 4-wheeler slot could have 41a, 41b for 2-wheelers in a maximum occupancy case.
