Smart Team, Boring Database Work

Forward Deployed Software Engineer • Current Employee

Pros: - Smart and diligent coworkers - Nerd culture meets business sense

Cons: The work itself becomes boring soon. It's essentially the databases 101 challenge SELECT ... FROM ... WHERE, over and over again. The promises of the contract offer were not honored in full: The starting date was pushed back several months on short notice (2 weeks). Stock was not granted in full. Many perks have been slashed after the IPO. The starting salary is high for recent graduates but then stalls. Progression cannot keep up with other tech companies.

Believed in the company, but not so much anymore because of its mistreatment of employees

Forward Deployed Software Engineer • Current Employee

New York, New York, United States

September 13, 2023

Pros: Fast-paced, very smart coworkers, and overall, the opportunity to grow is quite amazing.

Cons: No 401k matching, no bonuses, and no compensation increase with promotions or title promotions. Long work hours. Life as a Forward Deployed Engineer can be technically unfulfilling. It took 2 years for a company-wide compensation review to happen, and only a fraction of the company got a raise then.
