Product Quality Engineer Interview Experience

Process

Through an on-campus career fair, I had the opportunity to learn more about Palantir and its products. Recruiters answered some basic questions.

A week later, I received an email from an HR representative. They stated that the recruiters from the career fair had forwarded my resume and believed I had good potential for the role.

The first round was with the HR representative, and I was asked two questions:

  • How would you test a blender?
  • How would you find a repeating number in an array?

I cleared this round and was set up for a technical interview with a Product Quality Engineer. The interview consisted of two questions again:

  • How would you test a website?
  • Given a number, how would you find out if it was a palindrome or not?

The interviewer was quite nice and encouraged me when I was on the right track.

The third interview was rather unexpected. The interviewer questioned my interest in programming. Then, they asked me two questions:

  • How would you design a server architecture for a dictionary? How many servers would be involved, and what problems could be perceived? (They stressed computer architecture for this case.)
  • Following up on the palindrome question, given an array, how would you find the largest palindrome with better efficiency?

Questions

How would you make a server architecture for a dictionary?

How many servers would be involved, and what problems could be perceived?
