I applied online and was sent an online assessment. It consisted of three problems, each building upon the previous. The problems were tree/graph related. I solved all three problems and passed the test cases.
After that, I was asked to do a Karat interview round. I completed this round, and it was a very positive experience. The interviewer was very professional. We had 5 minutes for introductions, followed by 10 minutes for three short questions, primarily focusing on time complexity and debugging code. After that, it was 45 minutes of coding problems. The interviewer mentioned they would continue giving me problems until time ran out. I was able to completely code and implement two problems, and I explained the idea and wrote some code for the third problem before we ran out of time. The questions were maze/grid/BFS type.
Following the Karat interview, I finally spoke with a recruiter. During this 20-30 minute conversation, we reviewed my resume and discussed some basic questions. The recruiter informed me that they would forward my resume to the hiring managers and notify me if a suitable role became available. If a fit was found, we would proceed to an onsite interview. I was surprised by this, as I had already invested several hours in their interview process, only to learn there might or might not be a suitable role for me. A week later, the recruiter contacted me to inform me that there was no good fit for me at the moment.
It is frustrating to go through all these interviews only to be told at the end that there is no suitable role for you.
They try to frame the entire process as "being very deliberate about their hiring process," which I found to be an excuse for wasting candidates' time.
