I received an email from an HR person about a week after applying.
This person contacted me and began by asking some basic HR-related questions and explained a little about the role. I was then sent an online 25-question test covering various general tech-related topics.
These included:
Overall, I found these questions to be easy enough (make sure to study web development topics if you are unfamiliar).
A day after submitting the test, the same HR recruiter contacted me and prompted me to schedule the first interview. This interview began with a live coding portion.
The first question was very basic. The second, a follow-up question, was more advanced. I was able to solve the first one in time, but not the second.
After the coding portion, the interviewer and I discussed the job and the role's responsibilities. I was also able to ask some questions about Paycom. This interview lasted about 35 minutes in total.
About two days after this interview, the HR recruiter contacted me again to inform me that I would be proceeding to the next interview. A date and time were scheduled promptly within the same week.
The next, and final, interview was with a director-level employee. This interview was quite casual. I was asked some general coding questions, behavioral questions (e.g., "Name a time when you had a conflict and how you resolved it"), and questions about my proficiency in various programming languages and stacks.
I was then allowed to ask the interviewer questions, gaining insight into Paycom, its development process, and culture. This interview lasted about 30 minutes total.
A day after this interview, the same HR person contacted me to let me know that I had passed and a job offer was extended. They informed me of the compensation and the onboarding process. This was done solely via phone; I never received a formal offer letter via email.
Overall, the interview process from first contact to offer took approximately 8 days.
