Pros

Good coworkers. I have met many amazing coworkers at Paycom.

Cons
  1. Immediate termination without any investigation. Right after almost everyone coming back from the holiday break, Paycom fired 100+ (allegedly) developers within 3 days (January 8th - January 11th). There was no severance package. Your paycheck and FSA ended on the exact day they fired you. All your insurance will end at the end of this month.

  2. They fired everyone with the same reason: you don’t have HR approval for WFH when you should be on site. Paycom never talked about this rule in their meetings before the day they started firing devs. There were just rumors about leadership auditing who was not in the office when they were supposed to. Nothing was official. Even before Christmas, in the emails they sent to developers, they said if a developer needed to WFH, they needed to get their supervisor’s permission. That’s also what they emphasized in their meetings with devs. HR was never mentioned. Many management roles were not aware of this rule themselves. Paycom didn’t give warnings before they fired people for not being on site even just for 2 days with their team lead’s permission.

Briefly, I kind of doubt the loyalty and honesty Paycom has for its employees.

Advice to Management

Carefully analyze your market first. Think about if your new project will really bring you more revenue. If somehow you don’t do that right, I hope you can be accountable for those decisions, instead of making your employees pay for them.
