Process

I received a referral for a University Grad position from a friend who works at PayPal.

  1. The first call was with the university recruiter. She mentioned that the position they were hiring for was not for a new grad. She had found my resume in the applicant pool and set up the meeting.

  2. This round was supposed to be the Senior Recruiter/HR phone interview. To my surprise, it turned out to be a technical round.

Questions

Tested my React.js theory:

  • Stateful vs. stateless (answered)
  • Lifecycle methods (answered)
  • Use of Hooks in functional components (answered)
  • What does useRef do? (Not answered)
  • What is Virtual DOM? (Not fully answered)
  • Used Redux? (answered)
  • useContext, useReducer for global state management (answered)

Moving on to coding (in the same interview):

  1. Make a counter (divs that you can click to increment, decrement, and reset) (done)
  2. Make six distinct buttons using Array.map() to increment the counter (done)
  3. Style those buttons using flexbox (done)
  4. Create nested components for one of the buttons (done)
  5. Maintain a global counter state without passing props through the component hierarchy (using useContext, useReducer) (done)

Hoping for the next round of interviews.
