Process

In November 2020, a recruiter from PayPal reached out to me regarding a position with their Enterprise Platforms team within the PayPal Technology Platforms and Experience group. After I expressed interest, they sent me a coding challenge. Interviews began in December with two technical rounds. This was followed by an interview with a manager in mid-December.

I didn't hear back for a couple of days before they requested another manager interview. After that, I received no communication for two weeks, despite following up twice. I eventually called the recruiter, who finally informed me of my rejection in January.

Questions

The first technical round included an object-oriented design question (along the lines of designing classes for an apartment system) followed by a question for printing numbers in a triangular pattern.

The second round was interesting. The interviewer started with a trick math question and followed up with a dynamic programming question. He didn't stop there, asking around 9-10 questions in total covering topics like trees, graphs, etc. Most of them didn't involve coding, and the interviewer was satisfied with an explanation and pseudocode. All the questions were simple, except for the math trick questions.

The two manager rounds involved situational questions and discussions of general design approaches.
