Software Engineer Interview Experience - New York, New York

Process

  1. HR call
  2. Tech screening: a bunch of JS fundamental questions and a discussion about their current tech stack (they are using TypeScript).
  3. On-site: met with team members, a designer, the tech lead, and the CTO. The role is to build UI for their commercial website. The designer has a lot of animation-related work planned for the future, so they asked about my background in UI animation (which made me less excited about the position). Then, a backend tech lead asked a LeetCode question, and the CTO asked another LeetCode question. I asked the CTO about his principles for building a good engineering team. He said 80% of time should be invested in hiring. (I did not like this answer at all.)
  4. No response at all.
