Software Engineer Interview Experience - United States

Process

I recently had a second-round interview with Peloton, and unfortunately, it wasn’t a positive experience for me.

After a basic phone screen with HR, I was quickly scheduled for an interview with the hiring manager. However, the interview began on a very cold note. The interviewer didn’t introduce himself or ask me to introduce myself, which I found quite unusual. Instead, he jumped straight into asking technical questions, which threw me off completely.

I went into the interview feeling prepared, but the abrupt start and lack of a normal introduction made me very anxious. I lost a lot of confidence, and as a result, I found it hard to answer questions that I actually knew. The questions themselves were pretty straightforward, but the overall atmosphere felt tense and judgmental, not like a natural conversation or an engaging interview.

Even at the end of the interview, when I tried to ask the interviewer about his role and background, he didn’t respond or make any effort to share. The whole experience felt very impersonal and robotic. It left me feeling discouraged because I believe I could’ve performed much better if the interviewer had made even a minimal effort to break the ice or create a more welcoming environment.

In short, while the company seems to move quickly in the hiring process, the interview experience was uncomfortable and didn’t allow me to showcase my abilities in the best light. Hopefully, future candidates have a better experience.
