Pros
  • Legacy employees really carry the employee culture forward.
  • W/L balance was pretty nice.
  • Occasional catered food.
  • Nice office space.
  • Brand recognition goes a long way for opportunities at larger companies.
  • The talent pool was a good mix of startup and large company job history.
  • Salary wasn't bad.
  • It values employees from different backgrounds.
Cons
  • Leadership is often cryptic on company direction, with a significant lack of transparency.
  • The management and promotional structure seems arbitrary and is not performance-based.
  • Career growth is largely nonexistent.
  • It is a very volatile work environment due to regular layoffs and constant reorgs.
  • Targeted layoffs aren't typically for performance-related issues and often aren't explained by leadership.
Advice to Management

Be more transparent. If the company isn't doing well, let the employees know that.

There is a perception that the C-suite isn't being impacted by poor performance by continuing to get bonuses while trimming the fat off the employees' compensation in the form of removing share offerings from certain roles. This is both insulting and doesn't draw in more talented people.
