Overall, the interview process was quite bizarre.
I spent four hours coding the take-home challenge. I submitted my solution, which wasn't perfect but solved the problem statement and added a few functionalities.
The review call was weird. First of all, I wasn't even asked to introduce myself; we jumped straight into technical questions. It was clear the CTO had a list of questions to go through, and the conversation wasn't interactive. A lot of the questions asked didn't make sense. Ultimately, at the end of the interview, I was told that I did not make the cut because my Python wasn't idiomatic enough.
I didn't do dependency injection the way they wanted, and I borrowed too much from other languages I knew.
This was a very bizarre experience. I thought the communication was unprofessional, and I wish there had been clearer expectations around what they were looking for. I wouldn't recommend applying there, as you're likely to end up doing a tedious take-home test for nothing.
Initial call
3 to 4 hour long take-home assignment
45 minute review call with CTO
2 hour long culture fit (Note: I did not reach this stage).
The take-home assignment is to build a concurrent FastAPI application that integrates with two clients. They are looking for concurrency.
