Process

The interview process begins with a chat with the recruiter, followed by a meeting with the hiring manager. Candidates then complete a take-home assignment, which is subsequently reviewed. Future stages involve a half-day panel interview.

The early stages of the process were positive. However, the take-home assignment was, in my opinion, a missed opportunity. It essentially involved a time-limited task focused on implementing several features within a pre-configured project.

Prior to this assignment, considerable emphasis was placed on the ability to independently prioritize features and iterate on tasks, rather than strictly adhering to predefined steps or ensuring complete completion of everything. The objective was to produce a deliverable at a level suitable for immediate user deployment.

The intention was for the task to be reviewed collaboratively with the team, facilitating a discussion about the candidate's approach.

However, the reality diverged. The team appeared to have predetermined notions of what constituted a correct solution. Consequently, if a candidate's perspective differed, they might not even have an opportunity to discuss their choices. Furthermore, the team did not seem well-prepared, as evidenced by a suggestion to use local storage for images.
