Process
Everyone was nice, and the interview went well. However, it was quite disorganized in how they conducted it. A few examples include:
- I was required to screen share from the laptop I was supposed to solve problems from to the TV. The connection wasn't set up, so half the interview time was spent setting that up and getting help from IT.
- One of the questions wasn't on the laptop, so it required a transfer through Airdrop. Once transferred, I couldn't solve the problem because I wasn't on the right Wi-Fi connection.
- One of the questions had more to do with backend architecture, which is not the position I was applying for.

Pros: - Salary is pretty good.
- Remote work and flexible policy.
Cons: Lots of people, including managers, are still answering Slack messages during weekends and days off.
Work is somewhat boring, with no real challenging things.
The codebase is a big mess, with no organization and poor documentation.
People are not really passionate about what they do.
Some teams are really protective of the code that they own and won't let anyone touch it, making collaboration really hard.

Pros: Incredible company culture focused on creativity and kindness. My team trusted me with impactful projects that reached millions of users, and mentorship was outstanding. I got to contribute to both UI and backend work while learning best practices from experienced engineers. The environment truly encourages learning, collaboration, and innovation.
Cons: Onboarding for some internal tools can be confusing at first. Because Pinterest uses a large monorepo and custom frameworks, it takes time to ramp up. Additionally, since it’s a hybrid environment, you might miss some in-person bonding if you’re not based near HQ.
