Pros
  • Most people are very respectful and helpful
  • WLB
  • Somewhat competitive comp
Cons
  • Tech debt, and a lot of it. Engineers are not incentivized to clean up tech debt. Blame the top eng leaders.
  • Not a strong enough engineering culture compared to top tech companies.
  • Unclear product directions and strategies.
  • Incompetent leadership all over the company.
  • New HR leadership is terrible.
Advice to Management
  • Train executives.
  • Their communication has been a disaster for the past year. They showed absolutely zero empathy.
  • Get Elliott out of the board if you want to see this company live in 5 years.
  • Train managers.
  • Quite a lot of managers are incompetent. So many red flags. They aren't bad people, but they need a lot of training.
  • Bring back the culture. Many people stayed at Pinterest because of the culture, and executives and Elliott took it away. As soon as the economy gets better, people will all leave. Once you take the good culture away, it's hard to bring it back. But maybe save it when you still might.
  • Hire good engineering leadership.
  • The current ones are all arrogant, self-patronizing, condescending males who live in the 90s tech world and do not have a clue about tech quality. They are like incompetent, toxic robots.
