The interview process included the following stages:
- Phone screen with recruiter
- Phone screen with hiring manager
- SLC office onsite
- SF office onsite
The process was great. The recruiter always stayed in close contact and kept me in the loop.
The first onsite focused on the "people" side of the job; the second was more tech-focused, including a whiteboard architecture and code pairing session.
After all steps, I received a call from the hiring manager who let me know they weren’t going to move forward with an offer. This was the first time I received honest, candid feedback, and I was very grateful.
From start to finish, the process was enjoyable, and I had a positive experience.

You just have to get used to that and realize you won't get in trouble for it. Pre-IPO, but at a stage where the IPO is probably in the near future, and there's always a risk that the company goes downhill culturally after the IPO, and a small risk that the IPO works out badly financially (though it's more likely that if you get in now you'll make the big bucks). No remote hiring - you must be in NYC or SF for most eng roles, which means missing out on lots of good people.
