This was my first-round phone interview with Pure Storage, conducted after an on-campus event.

The interviewer provided me with a C++ code segment and asked me to discuss it over the next two days. All the questions focused on low-level concepts, such as:

• C++ class memory layout
• The functionality of virtual pointers and virtual tables
• How the compiler compiles and runs the code segment

More specific examples included questions like: what happens if you do not use a virtual pointer when compiling an inheritance class, or what if you swap the data members in base and sub-classes.

The interviewer was nice, providing hints, and communication was easy.
