Pros: - Some of the smartest folks in the semiconductor industry. - If you want to get your hands dirty with low-level work like computer organization, processors, compilers, and operating systems, and advanced communication protocols like LTE/4G, this is a great place to start. - Great benefits as interns and as full-time employees. - The learning curve is steep. Each intern has a mentor/manager system, and the guidance and training are good. - The company is doing well, with a very positive outlook for the next couple of years.

Cons: Large organization and hence has uneven distribution of good work. Senior engineers tend to do most of the good work and interns complete the housekeeping stuff. At least it felt that way. Software division slightly takes a backseat over hardware division. Pay and bonus are higher for design engineers. Too much work to kill your work-life balance.

Pros: Some sites still have individual offices with doors.

Cons: Uncertain future. Compensation is falling behind.

Pros: Very generous compensation and benefits. Management really knows what they are doing and treats employees with respect. Very high level of competence in Raleigh location. Lots of potential for growth and advancement. Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, cellphone modem and other technologies are well-respected industry-wide. New research is well-funded and supported. Don't have to worry about layoffs since we are in a virtually recession-proof growth area.

Cons: There is a lot of bureaucracy associated with doing anything that has legal consequences, a result of emphasis on the importance of protecting Qualcomm CDMA and other IP. This can make it difficult and time-consuming to communicate with customers and contractors or work with open-source software.
