Senior Software Engineer • Former Employee
Pros: Huge stocks, 50k for 3 years, and a joining bonus of like 15 lakhs for senior SE.
Cons: Immense toxic pressure, no boundary, be it weekend or 1:00 AM at night, they will call you and make you work.
No vacations, you won't be able to take a 7-day vacation at a stretch.
Daily on call, all work happens on call, no focus time. They will call you and make you work. Moreover, in the office also, nobody will ever use the breakout area or have a tea/coffee break. Expect daily 10-12 hour work.
No boundary in words, I mean I have seen managers abusing their candidates, although mine didn't. But it's very common.
Managers do not like sudden sick leaves. They will hate you for this, and you will feel it.
No 2-hour or 3-hour away status. Everybody works every day, full 10-12 hours minimum, can be extended to 18 hours every 3rd day.
Five days in the office, and they will monitor when you come to the office and when you leave. They will prefer you to stay a minimum of 10 hours in the office. Early leaving raises eyebrows.
My father died, and they forced me 4 days after to the office, no work from home. Nobody has humanity here. They are all money-hungry people from startups, and they just care about work.
Pathetic engineers. They just know the ecosystem and have zero knowledge about outside. Very maintenance and testing work in the Hyderabad office.
By chance, if you leave Qualcomm within 2 years, they will make you pay back all money given as a bonus and everything mentioned in the offer, which is beyond what you can manage.
It's a profit-first company, not employee-first. You will lose sleep, your life, your years, and family, everything. You won't get time to think about anything else apart from work. They will kill your soul with extra stocks. Suddenly you will realize how much you lost, i.e., the life you could have enjoyed.
After 2 years, forget you will be able to switch; no skills and no time.
