Solid chances to progress. Supportive bosses and great teams

Pros: You will be surrounded by people who are absolutely brilliant. Your bosses and tech leads care very much about your success as an individual. I never felt any animosity towards my colleagues, and I always felt like upper management really cared about me.
Cons: Crunch time in the labs is an absolute killer. I did four 100+ hour weeks in a row to get a product out to launch in my last year, and it destroyed me. I never felt as smart as my peers. They never talked down to me, but I always felt less educated and less capable.

Excellent for learning, horrible for fairness

Pros: Qualcomm develops unique technology that nobody else has equal expertise with. As an engineer, there were amazing opportunities to learn wireless communication protocols that were designed in-house.
Cons: Performance reviews are completely unfair unless your manager is technically sound and smart enough to recognize the level of your work. Most middle managers are status collectors who were promoted through friendships and alliances that form because of incompetence. Many VPs have no reports, but then you see they've filed 3,000 patents. Qualcomm's business model is licensing and IP and the litigation lawsuits that follow.
