Great place to work for entry-level engineers, but a lot of "gluts" in middle management

Pros

Some divisions are better than others. QCT is a good place to work because it generates consistent cash for the company.

QIS, MediaFLO, and other divisions are not as good because their respective businesses are not doing well.

Excellent healthcare plan.

Good vacation package.

For the most part, you can expect a stable work environment and be surrounded by generally high-quality people.

Consistent pay raises.

Cons

Bonuses are erratic. Stock options are not worth much nowadays. So unless the company gives RSUs, the compensation package is not very attractive.

The attrition rate is very low, so there is a glut of managers who don't have enough work to do. This is leading to a politically charged environment.

Advice to Management

It is hard to believe that the only person capable of running the company after the founder retired is the founder's son. No matter which way you cut it, this reeks of nepotism.

The company should have been able to retain Sanjay Jha, who was leading QCT. The general impression in the company is that after he got kicked out, the company isn't doing as well as it should have been.
